The Netherlands has seen the birth of a new audio manufacturer with the name Kemp Elektroniks. Their products will be put on the market with the name KE. The first one is the line conditioner POWER SOURCE, on which we will take a closer look. Other (amplifier) products are under development, but when they put those products on the market with the same low price level, we certainly will hear more of Kemp Elektroniks. The heavy POWER SOURCE looks beautiful with its black and smooth appearance and its various connection possibilities. In an enclosed leaflet they describe some of the most common distortions at the mains one can zencounter using an A/V equipment. But, of more importance, in the leaflet is a useful explanation (step by step) for how to connect the POWER SOURCE; a continuity testing of your equipment; how to create a clean earth and not at least how to use the antenna cables in a right way. In particular, the antenna cables was something for what I had no thought before. Educated by the leaflet did I connect my A/V set to the POWER SOURCE with standard cords. Anxious I awaited the first sounds of my set, for to get stunned by the high quality. In my notes I find quotes like: remarkable clear, warm, glowing, accurate, etc. In my opinion is the biggest asset that the reproduction of sound is more serene and through this to hear the finest and most fragile notes more clearly, so that every player and performer comes in his right. I was afraid for lessened dynamics, but nothing is further from the truth. The reproduction was extremely subtle and musically enthralling, but it still could be perfected. In the instructions for use is stated that if you not connect the POWER SOURCE to the earth you will reduce the performance of the POWER SOURCE with 50%. That was certainly not an understatement. The total level of the performance of the POWER SOURCE was good, after a correct connection absolutely top! By the POWER SOURCE my A/V set got that extra dimension for to listen cd after cd with satisfaction. The serenity had grown, the total was lovable relaxed and well balanced and the staging of the musicians had still become more beautiful. A real winner for the Dutch market.
