PRICE (1 off)  £1.85+vat+p&p   Notes on Silver plating of Audio Note connectors When you are using high audiograde components and cables with pure silver wire why connect them to the amplifier or speaker via a thinly gold plated plug and socket, this seems somewhat counter productive. Yes gold looks very nice and enhances our impression and sense of quality and finish, but it doesn`t sound as good as silver. Solid silver is far too brittle to be use repeatedly in this appliation, it just ends up snapping so what Audio Note have done with their connectors and plugs is silver plate high copper content brass connectors, but we are not talking the usual 7 - 10 micron plate, they use 60 - 70 microns of high grade pure silver. Do they tarnish, you will now ask? Yes they do, and they will need to be cleaned occasionally for the very best sound, however, even silver oxide has far better sonic properties than any other material, so most of the sonic advantage is still present even when they are have oxidised slightly. Please note that this applies only to Audio Note products displayed on the page, not all items are Audio Note so please check.
