The Audio Note L2 and L3 kits are designed with the a moving magnet cartridge in mind. For those that prefer the superb sound of the lower output moving coil cartridges, Audio Note have developed a moving coil step-up kit that matches the L2 and L3 kits.
Designed by Andy Grove, this stand alone box feeds directly from your record player via phono inputs, the signal bases through a high spec step-up transformer. Then out of the box, via phonos to your phono stage. With the step-up kit you can configure loading resistors and step-up ratios, either 1:10 or 1:20, making it very customizable - The unit is very well grounded which makes is superbly quiet. You may be wondering why these transformers aren`t fitted inside the L2 or L3 chassis? Well quite simply they sound better and they are a lot quieter away from all that circuitry. |

We have a guide for selecting the correct loading resistors in order to match your moving coil cartridge with cartridge and phono stage. Just have a look at the manual. This makes the Audio Note Step-Up incredibly versatile and can be used in other set ups.
