The Straight Line Contact Banana Plug has been developed from extensive research into how different plug designs affect the sound quality of loudspeaker cables. After evaluating many options, Graham Nalty created the Straight Line Contact Banana Plug as the optimum solution.

In this design, the connection between the plug and terminal is made via a short linear conduction path across a narrow section of the circumference by means of a brass wire, plated to prevent tarnishing that could otherwise degrade sound quality through diodic effects. To ensure the plug holds more securely in the terminal, a small plated steel spring is fitted on the opposite side of the 4mm pin to the Line Contact conductor. This spring is mechanically supportive only and is not electrically connected, avoiding the creation of a second conduction path which would otherwise reduce musical focus and clarity.

The gold-plated GN-2 Straight Line Contact Banana Plug applies this design principle in a way that ensures a high-quality connection. Two securing screws are provided for reliable long-term cable fastening, offering greater stability than a single screw. The best performance is achieved when the outer screw clamps the cable over its insulation, while the inner screw (nearest the contact) secures the bare wire for electrical connection. For larger cables up to 3 sq. mm (13 AWG), both screws may be used directly on the bare conductor. The maximum cable size that can be fitted is limited by the point at which the screws protrude too far beyond the collar and interfere with the outer cover.

The screw assembly is enclosed within an attractive carbon fibre shell.
