SuperCap Robert Hovland Series Capacitors

All capacitors, no matter who makes them, have issues with consistent sonic signatures throughout the voltage ratings. This is because of the different dielectric thickness requirements (basically determines breakdown voltage, all other factors equal). Lower voltage caps will always have a tendency to be faster sounding and more detailed, the higher voltage caps will always have a tendency to be more laid back. In good systems the pacing of the music will also be faster and slower respectively. This is only a basic rule, and there are many conditions, depending on the caps' exact place in the circuit; for example, whether or not the caps are inside of a circuit with global/nested feedback. Thus as you will see in the range different voltage rated version. Robert Hovland is convinced that when these caps are used optimally, those with a golden ear are in for a real musical encounter. "An astute user can get many recordings to have the 'soul' and the poetry, and the emotion, and the technical talent to the point that you literally feel that something is holding you in a musical embrace that you do not want to let go of until the phrase or the song is over....."

Introducing the SuperCap "Robert Hovland Series"

The SuperCap "Robert Hovland Series" are polypropylene film-and-foil audio capacitors. These are an evolution of Robert Hovland's concept of high-performance capacitors intended for use in a wide range of audio applications.

Robert Hovland has worked to insure that the sonic signature is maintained throughout each of the voltage ratings, as discussed above, quite a rare feat. Compared to the MusiCap line of coupling capacitors with which Robert was heavily involved for over twenty years, this series embodies these achievements because of the dedication and commitment of one of the most famous audio designers in the world.

SuperCaps offer excellent performance/value. They can give the impression of hearing music through an "open window", and provide richness of emotion and detail, without sounding harsh or distracting.

These capacitors are made with the highest quality materials available, and are precision-made in the USA. The leads are 22 gauge fine strand silver-plated copper (0.8mm diameter) with extruded PTFE insulation.

Capacitor orientation in the circuit

The Outside Foil is indicated by a tall vertical bar printed on the capacitor. Normally, the Outside Foil lead should connect to the "destination" of the signal going through the capacitor, the remaining Inside Foil lead should connect to the source.
