London Decca Maroon Type II Cartridge
Decca launched its first mono cartridge way back in the early 1950’s, this was then updated to a stereo cartridge in the late 1950’s. Decca were pioneers in stereo
recording techniques and microgroove stereo record pressings. Decca closed in the early 80’s but Decca engineer John Wright, continued to produce the MK V Maroon and MK V Gold cartridges. Later additional models included the Super Gold, Jubilee and Reference.
John Wright retired in 2023 and a new company, London Decca, was set up to continue UK manufacture and undertake service work of all Decca cartridges. Headed up by Andy Whittle in the UK, of Rogers/Audio Note fame, and Stewart Suda covering sales/marketing in the USA. The new London Decca cartridges use various NOS components and operate on the same principle dating back to the 1950’s, i.e. moving armature with a sum/difference circuit and are hand made in the UK.
We are delighted to be able to offer the new London Decca Maroon type II cartridge (a Mono version is also available) and to continue supply of these cult products, renowned for superb dynamics, tonal neutrality and musicality.
