The Fostex FE168E Sigma 160mm (6.5") 8 ohm, 80 watts, full-range driver with 120mm large ferrite magnet.
The Sigma range incorporates Fostex’s HP (Hyperbolic Paraboloid) shell diaphragm, with ‘ES cone’ paper made of banana plant fibre, and UDR tangential edge/damper - exclusive to Fostex.
This HR (HP rotation) design is well known in mechanical engineering for its resistance to deformation. The very special shape is achieved by twisting and rotating around the circumference of the membrane, pre-stressing it. This helps to distribute resonances, resulting in precise and natural mid-range reproduction.
