Duelund VSF - REMAINING STOCK

The Virtual stack foil is a capacitor made especially for loudspeaker crossovers. This new capacitor is the realization of a lifelong ambition. It consists of aluminium, copper or silver foil and high-density paper, soaked in pure mineral wax, treated with special lacquers made from natural materials and wrapped in paper. It is without question a "green" product.

The actual construction has been overseen by Mr Steen Duelund Chief Engineer of Duelund Coherent Audio. Mr Duelund has dictated the capacitor's special characteristics, i.e. its flatness, giving the opportunity to create its stack-foil working manner ensuring very low inductance, forming a solid block resulting in a form free of internal resonances. Furthermore, the flatness makes it easier to achieve greater values by connecting the capacitors in parallel.

Performance
The audiophile vocabulary contains many words that attempt to describe sonic qualities of equipment and components: Immediacy, clarity, harmonic authenticity, detail, plasticity etc.
While this capacitor has no problems fulfilling the promise of these words none of them encompasses the sound that this component makes possible. Only one word does this: Natural.

Directionality
The lead-out connected to the outer foil is closest to the "D" in Duelund as written on the capacitor. This should be connected to the signal output.

The Duelund VSF capacitors
are for speaker use, these are simply referred to as VSF range, they are rated up to 200 Volts DC and are available in:

  • Aluminium - VSFAL (0.47uF to 50uF) - DISCONTINUED
  • Copper - VSFCU (0.1uF to 40uF) REMAINING STOCK
  • Copper Black - VSFBLK (0.1uF to 40uF) - DISCONTINUED
  • Silver - VSFAG (0.1uF to 8.2uF) - DISCONTINUED

The Duelund VSF DC capacitors
are for signal applications in amplifiers and pre-amplifers. They are rated at 400 Volts DC and are available in:

  • Copper - VSFDCCU (0.047uF to 2.2uF) - DISCONTINUED
  • Copper black (NEW RANGE) - VSFDCBLK (0.047uF to 2.2uF) - DISCONTINUED
  • Silver - VSFDCAG (0.1uF to 8.2uF) - DISCONTINUED

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
What is the difference between the VSF, VSF Black and CAST capacitors?
VSF is a wax/paper design with pure foil in either aluminium, copper or silver.
VSF black is the same, but an outer coating reinforces the already excellent damping of the VSF in order to better preserve low-level detail and dynamics.
CAST is the no holds barred, with a wax oil hybrid paper dielectricum helping to dampen resonances far beyond the VSF design.

Duelund have discontinued all the VSF ranges, but we still hold limited stock of the VSF Copper Capacitors and the VSF DC Copper Capacitors.
