Jantzen Amber Z-Cap C&B Copper Foil Capacitors
The Jantzen Audio Amber Z-Cap “C&B” is a 630V DC-rated version of Jantzen’s pure copper foil capacitors, specifically designed for use as a coupling capacitor upgrade in tube and certain solid-state amplifiers, as well as for use in passive crossovers as a bypass capacitor for tweeter circuits.
The “C&B” stands for “Coupling and Bypass”.
Like the larger-value Amber Z-Caps, the Amber Z-Cap C&B is a super high-end pure copper foil capacitor. The sonic character of copper foil is best described as delivering an exceptionally neutral and natural presentation of vocals and instruments. This is combined with enhanced transparency and a higher level of detail retrieval compared to many other capacitor types.
Compared to the larger-value Amber Z-Caps, the Amber Z-Cap C&B is available in smaller capacitance values and features a thicker dielectric insulation, allowing for a 630V DC rating. This gives the Amber Z-Cap C&B sufficient voltage handling for amplifier applications.
Jantzen created the Amber Z-Cap C&B as an excellent option for upgrading coupling and power supply capacitors in tube (pre-amplifier) amplifiers and certain solid-state amplifiers. Its compact size is particularly beneficial where space inside amplifiers is limited.
In addition, adding a smaller-value Amber Z-Cap C&B capacitor (for example, 0.01μF) as a bypass capacitor in parallel with a high-quality series capacitor in a tweeter circuit can further enhance transparency, detail, and overall musical refinement.
